Sun Mining was established to make people more aware of the use of solar energy in Canada. The move towards clean energy production is becoming more important as the years go by. It provides sufficient power depending on the number of solar panels used without the toxic greenhouse gas emissions.
Sun Mining promotes the urgent need to use solar energy and other renewable energies in Canada. To achieve that, this organization is now implementing programs in the following areas – public policy, technical development, and education. This way, Sun Mining makes a stand in supporting the energy industry and energy conservation. It also promotes using the different forms of renewable energy, such as earth, wind, biomass, micro-hydro, photovoltaic, and passive and active solar energies.
Sun Mining hopes to achieve the following as it lasts in the industry:
- To encourage local units to share information about unique common interests.
- To keep close working relations with other established societies concerning solar energy, such as the International Solar Energy Society, American Solar Energy Society, and other national and international environmental groups
- To initiate the exchange of technical information and updated scientific findings through national conferences, public seminars, and chapter meetings
- To pioneer innovation regarding the applications of solar energy
Sun Mining works closely with NGOs and the government. It joins efforts with other renewable energy groups in Canada in coming up with proposals, position papers, and briefs presented to government sectors handling environment, finance, industry, and energy resources.
